
2019-2020 Board Opportunities
Mothers of Minors is growing and has opportunities for leadership to serve our mission. We are seeking serious individuals, dedicated and passionate about our mission to provide shelter and financial assistance to low-income and/or homeless individuals and their families as well as our commitment to meet a broad range of needs that cover far more than just shelter & charity. Board Members are asked to participate in committees that will benefit both their interest and expertise.
Secretary. Perform routine clerical and administrative functions such as drafting correspondence, scheduling appointments, organizing and maintaining paper and electronic files, or providing information to callers
Treasurer: The ideal candidate will be an accounting firm or individual experienced with non-profit accounting, or a CPA for profit firm. Main duties include: collaboration of the budget, working with bookkeeper, creating and overseeing 990 return and audit. In addition, the Treasurer oversees financial policies, produces reports for the Board and assists in the compliance forms and submissions with the IRS.
Bookkeeper: Develops system to account for financial transactions by establishing a chart of accounts; defining bookkeeping policies and procedures. Maintains subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions. Balances subsidiary accounts by reconciling entries.
Fundraising including Major Gifts, Grants: Ideal candidates will have extensive board or non-profit experience in fundraising with contacts locally and possibly nationally, to support the charity’s mission and procure capacity funding. Individuals with financial affiliations are encouraged.
Community Outreach/Events – (Seeking 2 candidates): Event committee Chairs focus in 2016 is to introduce M.O.M to new friends and businesses to develop new “3rd Party Events” locally and possibly nationally on our behalf. Ideal candidates will have event experience or enjoy event planning. They will lead or assist in sponsor development, coordination raffles and auction items for M.O. M’s events. Event chairs will work closely with Founder to create and coordinate M.O.M signature events.
Marketing/Advertising: Ideal candidate will be an Advertising firm or individual (College Intern) with graphic design, and web development skill. Candidate will assist in developing new website and social media campaigns.
Volunteer Coordinator: Assists in staffing M.O.M events via email, phone and networking.
